Mapusa civic staff withdraws strike notice

MAPUSA: Goa Municipal Employee Association withdrew their strike notice issued to Chief Officer of Mapusa Municipal Council after receiving assurance that their demand would be fulfilled.

MAPUSA: Goa Municipal Employee Association withdrew their strike notice issued to Chief Officer of Mapusa Municipal Council after receiving assurance that their demand would be fulfilled.

Goa Municipal Employee Association (GMEA) President Keshav Prabhu said, “We have decided to withdraw the strike notice since the chief officer and chairperson have assured us to resolve the issues that the staff is facing.”

The GMEA had issued a notice to chief officer that if he did not withdraw a circular prohibiting the staff from interacting with media and RTI activist and share administrative details with them, the staff would go on a strike on August 22.

At a meeting on Thursday, Chairperson Rohan Kavlekar, Chief Officer Clen Medeira and President of GMEA Keshav Prabhu the issues harassment to permanent staff of MMC was discussed.
