VASCO: Maria Cabral was elected unopposed as Nagoa Sarpanch at an election held recently. 

The Director of Panchayats had directed the Mormugao BDO to conduct election to the post of Sarpanch, which was vacant since last month. 

Since there was only one nomination, Madkaikar, Mormugao BDO Extension Officer declared Maria Cabral elected unopposed. 

The sarpanch post is reserved for ladies in the current term.
