Mesquita quits as NRI Commissioner
PANJIM: Commissioner of NRI Affairs Dr Wilfred Mesquita resigned from his position with effect from March 16, 2017.
PANJIM: Commissioner of NRI Affairs Dr Wilfred Mesquita resigned from his position with effect from March 16, 2017.
Sources in the government stated that the next choice for the commissioner’s position could be former minister Avertano Furtado who earlier held the portfolio of NRI Affairs.
Mesquita had been appointed as Commissioner for NRI Affairs by the Manohar Parrikar government in 2012.
He took charge on June 4, 2012 and remitted office on March 16 this year.
