PANJIM: Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo filed his nomination papers for the post of Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, on Thursday.

“I have followed the party decision as party asked me to file the nomination,” Lobo told Herald. 

The MLA, who spearheaded the campaign to bring Manohar Parrikar back as Goa’s CM after a fractured mandate in the recently held polls, is confident of being given a cabinet berth in the future. “I am very confident that in this government itself I will be promoted as a minister. I will wait for my time to come. The government for now is formed on a tight rope and we need to strengthen its base. We will deliver and work for Goa’s development,” he said.

From the Congress, Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes has filed his nomination to the post. The election is scheduled on Friday.
