Monserrate backs Parrikar’s candidature in Panjim

PANJIM: Almost seven months after he lost the Assembly elections from Panjim, former Congress Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate made a candid submission that his defeat was due to the assurance made by Manohar Parrikar to the voters that he would return and that the BJP candidate will vacate the seat for him.

Monserrate, who recently joined the Goa Forward Party, a coalition partner in the Parrikar-led government, announced that he has already indicated to his voters and councilors to work and support Parrikar.

“On that assurance Siddharth was elected. Now as Parrikar has come back, I am sure that he is going to get support. He will get the same margin he used to get or more than that,” he said.
