Murder case registered at Fatorda PS

MARGAO: A murder case was registered at the newly-commissioned Fatorda police station last night, after a migrant labourer from Jharkhand killed his roommate, who also hails from the same district of Jharkhand.

MARGAO: A murder case was registered at the newly-commissioned Fatorda police station last night, after a migrant labourer from Jharkhand killed his roommate, who also hails from the same district of Jharkhand.

According to police, 22-year-old Somra Yadav, hailing from Deogar district of Jharkhand killed 25-year-old Mantri Marandi, following an argument in the room they shared, at the under construction new District Hospital at Ambaji.

Both were reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, when Somra picked up a cement brick and hit Mantri on his head, causing an instant death.  Incidentally, there are around 150 labourers living in the specially-erected quarters. 

Police have registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder and obtained 10 days police custody of the accused. 

PI Navlesh Dessai is investigating the case.
