PANJIM: A day after the entry of two Congress leaders into the BJP, an internal war has broken out between former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and BJP State chief Vinay Tendulkar.

Soon after the BJP core committee meeting, Tendulkar briefed the media on the details of the meeting.

Parsekar, who lost the March 2017 election to Sopte by a margin of over 7000 votes, accused  Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Tendulkar of making him a “scapegoat” for the party’s defeat in the last Assembly election. He also slammed the State leadership for misguiding the High Command on the local political situation.

BJP, which had won 21 seats in 2012, was reduced to 13 seats, with five of its ministers, including the chief minister, facing defeat.

Asked about Parsekar’s outbursts against the party, Tendulkar said, “I do not want to comment about anyone it is his personal views.”

On Parsekar’s personal attack, he said, “Some leaders behaved badly with their leaders and the workers have shown them their right place in last elections.”

On the other hand, Parsekar ridiculed the press briefing by Tendullkar after the core-committee meeting. “Some leaders do not know the rules that core-committee meeting details cannot be discussed outside,” he said.

Parsekar also said that some State leader are misleading the central leadership on the Goan political situation. “I do not know how fruitful the entry of two Congressmen in BJP would be. Only time will tell, let the election be announced,” he said, adding “I will clear my stand only when time comes.”

The core committee member said he feels pained to see the way the party is marching forward. “It is very painful to see that we are getting leaders into the party who defeated BJP,” he said.

On Tuesday, Parsekar had told Herald, “The entire election strategy right from finalising the candidates to planning our campaign and drafting the manifesto was planned by Manohar Parrikar, who was projected as party’s leader. And Vinay Tendulkar was our president. So was it not their responsibility to hold themselves accountable for party reducing from 21 seats to 13 seats?” he questioned.
