PANJIM: Ruling out merger talks with BJP, MGP President Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar said that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar should handover charge to the seniormost minister in the government.

“For eight months the government has not been functioning. It is time Parrikar hands over charge to the senior-most minister,” Dhavalikar said. He said that Parrikar, after recovering fully, can take the charge again.

Dhavailkar said MGP will not merge with BJP for the post of Chief Minister to MGP leader Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar. “We have built the party at the grassroots level during the past 20 years and even achieved 12 per cent vote share in the elections. It will be not be right to merge MGP with BJP only for Chief Minister’s post,” he said.
