MARGAO: The occupants of twelve structures that will be demolished on Wednesday morning for constructing the long-pending western ring road project that connects Madel to Comba in Margao, have been temporarily rehabilitated in flats in the housing board.

Deputy Collector Uday Prabhu Dessai informed that eleven families have been shifted. “We have held many meetings with the families. Ten days ago we have given the families the keys of their flats.” He informed that in the second phase, three houses would be demolished.

According to the Deputy Collector, the families had to be given temporary rehabilitation because of the directions of the High Court which, in its suo moto petition, had directed the authorities to immediately rehabilitate the people and complete the ring road.
