Online sex racket busted; one held, eight girls rescued

MAPUSA: Anjuna police busted online sex racket and arrested one Bilal Shaikh and rescued eight victim girls at Anjuna.

PI Chetan Patil said that he received information from sources that an online sex racket was active in Anjuna. Accordingly, he and his team raided a place at Star Co junction at Anjuna, where he arrested Shaikh and rescued a victim girl.

On questioning Shaikh, police learnt that he had seven other girls housed at three different locations. Then, a police team immediately rushed to the locations and rescued the girls from two guest houses and a hotel in Anjuna.

The rescued girls are aged between 19 and 25 and hail from Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

PI Patil said that he suspected that five more persons were involved in the online sex racket, whose identities would be known after the completion of investigation.

Police also seized two Margao registered Activa scooters used by the accused. 

The raid was conducted between 4 pm and 6.30 pm by a police team headed by PI Chetan Patil and consisting of PSI Harish Vaigankar, PSI Amir Taral, PSI Rupa Govekar, LPC Lourence Sequira, Shilpa Shetgaonkar, Deepa Parsekar, Ratna Salgaonkar, PC Vishal Naik, Satuan Nachinodkar and Pravin Patil.
