PONDA: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Sunday said that the 27 MLD water treatment plant at Opa dam would inaugurated on December 2 and thereafter 27 MLD Ganjme plant would be commissioned.

“Once these plants start pumping water, the talukas of Tiswadi and Ponda and the panchayats of Volvoi and Kerim in Priol constituency will not face water shortage,” he said. 

Besides, he said, 10 MLD water from Selaulim Dam would be diverted to Ponda to meet requirements of Borim Panchayat.

He further said that the 50 MLD Mysal dam project in Shiroda constituency would be completed in September which would meet the requirements of Shiroda and Savordem constituencies.

Sudin was addressing the media on the sidelines of fertilizer distribution programme to 300 farmers at Kundaim Panchayat hall organised by Madhavrao Dhavalikar Trust.

As promised in the MGP in manifesto, Sudin said, the interest on farmers’ loans up to Rs 1 lakh would be paid by the government.

He informed that the Kundaim ground would be developed and the local lake would be desilted in the coming months.

He further informed that the PWD would launch a scheme to provide domestic water tank to consumers who face acute water shortages. 

Sudin disclosed that 90,000 square metres of land would be acquired near Ponda RTO office for a driving school and also for building an electronic vehicle training laboratory. 

He said that a truck parking plaza would be set up in near future for North and South Goa. For South Goa, the truck parking plaza will be set up at Dharbandora near sugar factory, while for North Goa, the place is yet to be identified. 

He said that the disputes of landlords and tenants in case of Khazan land would be settled and the government would make Khazan land to promote tourism.
