MARGAO: The Margao Municipality conducted a drive in Osia Complex and surrounding areas of Madel on Wednesday at around 4 pm against shops that are operating without trade licence.

Several shops included branded eye stores, mobile repair shops, barbers etc were asked to shut shop for not having a trade license. Many shops shut down when they got to know that the Municipal officers are in the area. 

Business owners complained that the MMC takes one month rent as their tax but their business has been going down. “We employ three workers. “Earlier, we were doing very good business, but since the last two years, business is down,” they said.
