PI Filomeno Costa claims his officers take action

Herald spoke to the Police Inspector of Colva Police station, Filomeno Costa, who said that whenever they get a call, his officers go on the site. Interestingly, at first he made a very different claim only to change his statements during the conversation when he realised that Herald has evidence.

Herald: You might be getting a lot of complaints against music being played after 10 pm.

PI: Music after 10 pm? No, there are no complaints; no music is being played after 10 pm in Colva.

Herald: Are you sure about this?

PI: At present there is no music played after 10 pm.

Herald: We visited the restaurants at night and we had even dialled 100 from outside one restaurant.

PI: If we get a call our police go to the spot.

Herald: But on Saturday nobody came.

PI: Can you give me the name of the restaurant?

Herald: For weddings when music is played after 10 pm, police arrive immediately and shut down the music; in case of restaurants you’ll use decibel meter. Isn’t this a double standard?

PI: When I get a call I send the police over to the site. I cannot comment about the weddings though. Every complaint regarding late music comes also to me and I don’t spare these restaurant persons.

Herald: Do you’ll think you’ll are doing a good job to ensure that music is turned off at 10 pm.?

PI: Yes. If we get a call, my officers go there and stop the music.

Herald: Even places that are close to the police station play loud music...

PI: OK, I will check on it now.
