PANJIM: Public Works Department (PWD) on Thursday invited expressions of interest from companies/ contractors to conduct a structural audit of old government buildings, school complexes, bridges and culverts in the State. PWD also invited expressions of interest from companies/contractors to conduct a road safety survey.

The selected company will be entrusted with the task of conducting a structural audit of bridges, buildings, etc and recommend measures or new construction wherever required.

In the second phase, the selected bidder will have to undertake road safety audit/survey and also propose road surveillance system.

After the collapse of the Sanvordem bridge last year, the PWD have moved for a safety audit of all roads and bridges in the State.

The audit is also aimed at the deficiencies that make Goa’s road network prone to accidents. It is expected to identify dangerous spots and recommend measures to curb road fatalities.

“Based on the audit report, we will prepare remedial measures that need to be taken to improve the condition of the roads and bridges,” an official said.
