PANJIM: Part-time instructors working under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) have petitioned Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar demanding regularisation of their services and increase in their salaries.

In a letter to Chief Minister, instructors have demanded that their services be regularised and salaries increased on the basis of the principle of ‘equal pay for equal work’.

The instructors pointed out that SSA had appointed part time instructors for government middle school at a monthly remuneration of Rs 15,000. The first batch of the 69 instructors was appointed in 2011 and the contracts are being renewed since then.

“Even though, we are termed part-time instructors, we are working full time from 7.45am to 1.45pm like other regular instructors or teachers,” the letter stated. They said that along with regular classes, they also take up projects, assignments, conduct examinations, prepare results of their subjects and are engaged in substitution classes.
