Petrol up by Rs 2.70, diesel by Rs 1.43

PANJIM: The prices of petrol and diesel will be dearer in Goa by Rs 2.70 and Rs 1.43 respectively from Friday midnight after the State government decided to increase value added tax (VAT) on both commodities.

As per the notification issued by Under Secretary (Finance) Sushma Kamat, VAT on petrol which was 15 per cent has been increased to 20 per cent while VAT on diesel will go up from 15 per cent to 18 per cent. The notification will come into force from June 15, 2019.

Sources reveal that price of petrol will increase by approximately Rs 2.70 per litre and diesel by Rs 1.43 per litre.

As on Friday, petrol was costing Rs 63.74 per litre in Goa while diesel was charged at Rs 63.04 per litre, he said.
