PANJIM: A picture of the official vehicle of Director General of Police Muktesh Chander in a no entry road in Panjim has gone viral on the social media. Chander, who is instrumental in launching the traffic sentinel scheme, may be required to pay a challan.

Superintendent of Police Dinraj Govekar said the picture has no date and time but they will examine and verify it. “We will examine the picture and we will see, as in an emergency situation ambulance, fire, defence and police vehicles have exceptions,” he said.

The picture is believed to have been taken on March 19, the day of the mining dependents’ protest in Panjim.

Govekar said that if the picture was taken on March 19 then the cause of diverting the vehicle in a no entry road is justified. “We diverted many vehicles through no entry roads as it was an emergency situation on March 19,” he added.
