PONDA:  Ponda residents heaved a sigh of relief as PWD (Water Supply Division) on Monday repaired the 750 dia DI main pipeline within 14 hours thereby restoring water supply to the taluka.

The pipeline supplies water to the entire taluka from 6 am to 6 pm.

The residents got panicky as the pipeline broke down yet again with the locals fearing that it would take days to repair the same.

However, this time the PWD repaired the pipeline within 14 hours.

The breakdown on 750 dia DI  main pipeline was reported at 1 pm on October 27, which was attended to by engaging labourers and  machinery on an emergency basis. The water supply to Marcaim, Priol, Veling, Cuncolim, parts of Bandora, Curti and Khandepar was restored on Monday morning, the officials informed.

It may be recalled that Ponda and Tiswadi residents had to undergo severe hardship in August for almost eight days on account of the water crisis when 900 mm and 750 mm dia pipelines broke down following a landslide.
