President’s medal for four officers

PANJIM: The President’s Fire Service Medal for meritorious service will be presented to Divisional Officer Rajendra Anant Haldankar and leading fire fighter Anandu Kusta Velip, whereas SP Shekar Prabhudesai and Lady PSI Suvarna B Talgaonkar will receive the President’s Police Medal on Independence Day.

Haldankar joined the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in 1991 and has put in 27 years of service in the Department and is presently holding the post of Divisional Officer (Group “A” Gazetted Officer) at Central Zone Ponda. He attended the Hazmat Specialization Course conducted by Singapore Civil Defence Academy at Singapore and has undergone Urban Search and Rescue and Medical First Responder Course at United Kingdom.

Velip joined the FES in 1996 and has put in 22 years of service in the Department and presently holding the post of leading fire fighter. During his tenure, he has exhibited interest in executing difficult tasks in the field, disregarding personal safety.

Prabhudesai as Superintendent of Police (South) from 2005 to 2008 effectively handled several law and order problems, agitations and strikes with courage and uprightness  and handled the communal violence in Curchorem.


 and where due to his effective leadership no loss of human life and lost damage to the public property reported. 

Talgaonkar during her posting in police station in North Goa district has assisted in charges of police station in investigating various crimes.
