Progress HS Sanquelim  holds alumni meet

BICHOLIM: The former students of 1966 to 1991 batch of Progress High School, Sanquelim, organised an Alumni meet at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim, on Saturday, to mark the completion of 100 years of “Atmod’dhar Sangh” of the school. 

The meet began with lighting of the traditional lamp by Dr Pradeep Padwal in the presence of Headmistress Surekha Desai; Sangeeta Pokle, Gurudatta Sanzgiri, Prasad Pangam and some ex-students. 

Around 160 ex-students from various fields including doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, businessmen, government employees, police and several other fields participated and expressed their views. As some of them were new to each other, all the ex-students introduced themselves to others. 

Speaking on the occasion, the ex-students expressed a feeling of proudness that the school has given cultured students to the society. 

They also expressed their gratitude towards teachers. As it was not possible to get together all the students at one platform only those students who had passed out Std X participated. All the ex-students were given a special memento and a flower. A special cake was also cut. The ex-students expressed their displeasure over the building structure which is old and said that they should try to construct a new building at its place. They also showed willingness for construction of a new building and said that the question of new land could also be resolved.
