Reddy granted one year extension

PANJIM: The State cabinet on Friday granted a one-year extension to controversial officer Neelakanta Reddy as Superintendent Engineer in the Electricity Department.

PANJIM: The State cabinet on Friday granted a one-year extension to controversial officer Neelakanta Reddy as Superintendent Engineer in the Electricity Department. 

Reddy was due for retirement on July 31 but was later elevated to the post of Chief Electrical Engineer, which was subsequently quashed by the High Court. 

As reported by Herald, Reddy has faced inquires, including departmental inquires, and suspension for cases ranging from misappropriation to negligence. 

Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that since April till date, 1200 ad hoc appointments have been regularised by the government in consultation with the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC). 

In another decision, the Cabinet has doubled the remuneration for contract lecturers and assistant lecturers in the Goa Dental College. The monthly remuneration of lecturers is hiked to Rs 90,000 from existing 55,000, while for assistant lecturers it is hiked to Rs 80,000 as against earlier pay of Rs 45,000.
