SANGUEM: A portion of a house at Vakarwada Sanguem was damaged on Monday morning following heavy showers leaving Shrimati Saulo Naik, a widow and her two sons without shelter.

All three family members, who were sleeping inside the house at the time of incident, however escaped unhurt. The household articles and the roof were damaged.

After receiving information, Chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council Romualdo Fernandes, Sanguem Mamlatdar Laxmikant Dessai and councillor Prakash Dessai rushed to the site and assured all possible help to the family.

The widow, who has no source of income, said she is not in a position to arrange funds for the house reconstruction. Shrimati is worried of taking temporary shelter elsewhere. She and her sons managed to save some household articles.

SMC chairperson provided some financial aid to the widow and urged the public and NGO to provide monetary assistance to help her rebuild her house.

Sanguem Mamlatdar assured all possible support and co-operation to Shrimati from the Mamlatdar office.
