BICHOLIM: The flower vendors from Sanquelim market are upset that their business is being snatched way by vendors operating on the main road.

Speaking to Herald, a market flower vendor Deepa Mandrekar said that the business of market vendors is being grabbed by the vendors selling flowers on the main road.

“We had demanded with the Municipality to shift them to the market, but they have failed to do so. We are selling flowers here since last more than 20 years and suffering loss because of the person who now sells flowers outside the market and on the main road,” Mandrekar said.

The flower vendors also complained of lack of light and toilet in the market.

“There is no light or toilet in the market. We demand with the SMC to solve our problems,” Pandhari Ghadi, another flower vendor, said.

When contacted, SMC Chairman Dharmesh Saglani said if the flower vendors have any problem they should meet him.

“We have already given notice to two flower sellers operating on the main road, but they have appealed to the tribunal and so we cannot do anything in that regard,” Saglani said.
