MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has taken cognisance of the broken CCTV systems at Margao which was installed under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) funding during his erstwhile regime.

MP Sardinha had held a review meeting on the same at the Collectorate with various government departments’ officials. Additional Collector Agnelo Fernandes, Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa and other officials were present at the meeting.

Sardinha said that the responsibility of maintaining any project given to anybody is of the same local body as there is no provision for maintenance in the MPLAD funds.

"I will have a discussion in this matter and get back soon," said Sardinha.

He also said that he had funded similar CCTV projects for Vasco, Ponda, Quepem and Curchorem. However, added now he doesn't know how many of these cameras actually work.

The MP of South, however, said that he will discuss this and other matters pertaining to new projects with the chief of house and then revert back.
