Secretariat wears deserted look

PANJIM: Despite some employees and officers being on leave following the Diwali holiday, services in government offices dealing with the people didn’t appear to have been affected.

PANJIM: Despite some employees and officers being on leave following the Diwali holiday, services in government offices dealing with the people didn’t appear to have been affected.

Some departments were deserted, but those dealing with the people functioned, though the administration was affected to a certain extent. 

At the State Secretariat on Thursday a couple of meetings were cancelled and even the cabinet meeting was not held. The reason for cancelling the meetings is not known but the secretariat was one of those offices that was deserted. An officer said everything will commence from Monday.

Employees were in a festive mood from Monday. Following Diwali on Wednesday, Lakshmi pooja on Thursday, the mood continues. 

Speaking to Herald, All Goa Government Employees Association President John Nazareth said some employees were on leave but department heads had ensured that people and the office functioning were not affected. He said that all departments that deal with the people on a daily basis were functioning well.
