MARGAO: The flow of sewage at every corner and streets of Margao has now become unstoppable. The residents of Malbhat area of Margao have been suffering due to this sewage flow coming from the areas on the hill slopes of Pajifond. Malbhat Councillor Rupesh Mahatme on Tuesday inspected the choking drains and sewage flow.

The councillor and the team of sanitation section of MMC has warned the commercial establishments and hotels in the areas to stop discharging sewage into the drains.

Mahatme said that the Pajifond area from where sewage water is coming falls in another ward that comes under Fatorda constituency. During the inspection, he warned the people releasing sewage of disconnecting their electricity and water connection if they do not stop releasing sewage into the drains.

The team of sanitation section has taken a note of all these violators and will keep a check on their activities.

The sewage accumulated in rain water drains in these areas like Malbhat and Aquem Alto areas near the Vishant theatre has in the last week flown on to the roads and caused massive inconvenience to people.

These cases have become glaring examples of how and why the Margao town civic body which is a A class Municipality may have missed the bus for Smart City qualification.

Flow of sewage in Margao has become a present continuous tense with never a stop to the flowing sewage and actions like these have become mandatory.
