PANJIM: BJP national President Amit Shah will be on a two-day visit to Goa on July 1 and 2 as a part of party’s organizational tour to strategies ways to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Goa has two LS seats.

“He will hold internal party meetings and interact with the legislators and the workers during his visit here. Discussion on the Lok Sabha elections will be the agenda and he will also inaugurate party office in South Goa,” BJP General Secretary Sadanand Shet Tanawde told Herald.

The party has however not shortlisted candidates for the two seats. Asked whether the Rajya Sabha candidate is finalized, Tanawde declined to reply.

The upcoming visit is Shah’s second tour to Goa after the formation of BJP-led State government. He was felicitated on April 9 for party’s victory in four of the five States including Goa which went for polls between January and February.

BJP Lok Sabha MP Narendra Sawaikar confirmed this would be Shah’s longest visit after the polls. “He is arriving here as part of party’s organization tour. He would be interacting with the party workers and MLAs during his visit. A detail program of the visit is yet to be finalized,” he said.

Party sources told Herald that Shah is likely to review the performance and functioning of the government as the Manohar Parrikar-led coalition completed 100 days.
