PONDA: Mahila Congress workers and residents of Shiroda and Bethoda on Tuesday confronted Assistant Electrical Engineer Suresh J Naik over lack of streetlights in their respective villages.

The protestors were led by Mahila Congress State Secretary Adv Diya Shetkar. When confronted, Engineer Naik assured the protestors that he would look into their complaints. He instructed his staff including the Junior Engineer (JE) to find out the reasons for the lack of street lights in Shiroda and Bethoda.

Later, the officials assured the aggrieved residents that the problem would be sorted out within 10 days. The residents made it clear that, if the problems are not solved as assured, they would escalate the matter and hold a morcha.

Speaking to media persons after meeting, Adv Shetkar said that for several months now, the people of Bethoda have been demanding streetlights on the main road.
