PANJIM: A day after resigning as MLAs and from the Congress, the newly-inducted BJP leaders Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte, on Wednesday evening met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who told them to start working in their constituencies.

Parrikar, is currently recuperating at his private residence at Old Goa after getting discharged from AIIMS, New Delhi on Sunday.

“Sopte and I met the chief minister at his private residence in the evening. The meeting was a courtesy call and very brief. We took his blessings,” Shirodkar said and added that the Chief Minister’s health is recovering and he is stable.

Shirodkar said Parrikar has asked both to start working in their constituencies, which will go for by-elections shortly. “He told us that his complete backing is with us and we should start working in our constituencies to ensure party wins both seats,” he said.

While Shirodkar represented Shiroda constituency, Sopte had won from Mandrem. Both the leaders had defeated BJP’s then Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar (Mandrem) and Industries Minister Mahadev Naik (Shiroda) in March 2017 elections.
