VASCO: In a crackdown by the officials of legal metrology department Vasco, electronic goods and weighing scales worth Rs 1 lakh were seized in six separate raids on Friday.

A team led by a legal metrology Inspector Liladhar Kumbharjuvekar raided shops at Baina area and booked six cases. “Five cases were of enforcement wherein weighing scales from five different commercial outlets including one horticulture outlet, a logistic courier office, two general stores and a fair price shop were seized under Legal Metrology Act 2009 and Goa Legal Metrology Rule 2011. 

Similarly, one case at an electrical shop under package commodity rule 2011 was booked as the shop owner was seen selling electrical goods without proper product declaration. From this shop we have seized 10 ceiling fans, 16 water heaters, 8 LED panel series. All together goods worth around Rs 1 lakh were seized,” Kumbharjuvekar said.

The department has asked the vendors to give invoice and details of the purchase so as to take action on the supplier for supplying goods without mandatory product declaration in market.
