Stop making baseless allegation: GGEA to politicos

PANJIM:

Taking serious note of allegations levied by the political parties that government servants are corrupt and indulge in selling their vote by taking bribes, the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) has asked political leaders not immediately stop making such irresponsible statements, which could lead to protest or revolt by the employees.

“GGEA has observed that few political parties have been making irresponsible and demoralizing statements in press and media during last few days on the issue of postal ballot exercised by the government employees, who were appointed for polling duties, and claiming that all government servants are corrupt and selling their votes,” GGEA President John Nazareth said in a press release issued on Saturday.

He said that GGEA strongly condemn such irresponsible and baseless statements without any specific reference or any case being filed and request the political parties to display some maturity and refrain from making such statements. “We urge election commission to issue instructions to political parties refraining from making such statements,” he stated.

Nazareth said that government employees in the State are by and large honest, sincere and non-corrupt. “Any irresponsible statement will provoke the peace-loving, sincere and hardworking government employees to unit and revolt,” he said.

GGEA has said that there may be some isolated cases of such nature and if so, the political parties should come forward and file complaint rather than making allegations.
