Stress on family values as Calangute celebrates feast of St Alex
CALANGUTE: The feast of St Alex was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at Calangute.

A large number
of parishioners of
Calangute and surrounding
areas attended the masses
including a mass in Hindi
and English since early
morning. Fr Kenneth Teles,
Director of Diocesan Family
Service Centre was the
main celebrant at the feast
mass.
Fr Kenneth Teles and his
team who have been
preaching during the Novenas
giving importance to
family life and its values
urged the parishioners to
strive for good family values
in their day-to-day life
which could help build a
good and fruitful society.
A few parishioners of
Calangute sit around the
church entrance with a coconut
shell and beg to keep
their vows for the favours
granted by the Patron Saint
of Calangute and place their
offerings near the statue of
St Alex.
A fishing contest for the
parishioners of Calangute
was organised by the
Calangute Parish Youth at
Baga river. An all Goa coconut
breaking contest was
also held at Calangute Association
ground by the Active
Boys of Calangute to mark
the festive activities.
