PANJIM: Stating that cleanliness should begin in the area around you, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said the message of cleanliness has to reach even educated people.

“When you talk of cleanliness, you have to begin from your own State and area around you first. This message of cleanliness has to reach even the educated man, who also indulges in throwing waste around,” Rane said at the launch of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2018’ programme organised by Directorate of Panchayats at the Goa Medical College (GMC), which is being simultaneously launched all over the country.

He said, “It is up to each one of us to make this mission successful. This Swachh Bharat Mission is the Prime Minister of India’s dream and flagship programme. It is up to everyone to take this dream forward. Each individual and their mindset need to change. We should also bring to people’s notice when they pollute the surroundings.”

Earlier, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Ashok Kumar, briefed the people about the significance of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme which will go on till October 2, 2018.

Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma read the Swachhta Pledge to the gathering. The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ scroll was released on the occasion.
