Two-day matoli bazaar opens at Margao

MARGAO: The two-day Netravali Matoli Bazar commenced on Tuesday at Lohia Maidan, Margao with the villagers putting on display various items required for the Ganesh celebrations and the organisers expect each of the participating group to earn at least Rs 25,000 in the two days.
Besides matoli items, there are many women self help groups selling different eatables served during Ganesh celebration including neureos and ladoos.
In all, there are 28 self help groups that have around 120 persons participating in this bazaar organized by the Atal Gram Development Agency of the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation.
Project Director Vijay B Saxena disclosed that going by the past experience around Rs 60 thousand was earned by sale of coconuts and arecanuts alone and was confident that not a single group will earn anything less than Rs 25,000.
