UD minister moots new, planned city on Kadamba plateau
PANJIM: Keeping in mind the traffic congestion and limited space in the Panjim, Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza on Thursday mooted a new planned city on Kadamba Plateau which would have all the basic amenities.
“All of Goa is urbanised, it can be called as an entire city. Congestion is always a problem in a city as the area is limited. All the people want to come here and that is the problem with cities,” D’Souza said speaking on the sidelines of a CCP function.
He said, “Cities are growing, and modernising the entire city is sometimes not possible but creating new infrastructure in a new place is easier. In my personal opinion I would be happy if we would have another planned city with all facilities somewhere on the Kadamba plateau.”
He added, “In a new place there can be planned development but in an old place this is not possible due to space crunch. Now in Panjim you cannot broaden the roads.”
