MARGAO: Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai has said that he would be instituting an enquiry following which stringent action will be taken against Chief Town Planner Dr S T Puttaraju if found guilty of addressing a false letter to the PWD.

Residents of Chandor who are objecting to the State Highway passing through their heritage village had addressed a letter to Vijai pointing out the false information provided by Dr Puttaraju to the PWD vide his letter dated June 1, 2017.

In the said letter, the chief town planner had stated that the draft Regional Plan for 2011 showed the State Highway passing through Chandor village based on the Regional Plan of 2001 which had referred to the Official Gazette notification dated February 17, 1997.

However, the villagers had submitted copies of Regional Plans starting from 2001 that had never shown the State Highway passing through Chandor but through some other neighbouring villages.

When asked about this, Vijai said he was taking the matter very seriously and would initiate action immediately.
