MARGAO: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s visit to Hospicio was not as normal as it was planned as a former matron of the hospital along with her mother had an altercation with him during the visit.

Even as Vishwajit got into his car to drive away after the visit, the matron’s mother demanded to speak to him and abused him for joining the Bharatiya Janata Party and betraying the Congress party to which his father has remained faithful all these years.

The former matron has been identified as Marita D’Cruz who was accompanied by her daughter Avita Godhinho.

However, instead of getting into a discussion with them, Rane preferred to just drive away. Speaking to Herald he admitted the incident but said he saw no point on commenting on it.

Meanwhile, after inspecting Hospicio on Sunday morning, Rane ordered the closure of kidney dialysis unit that was running on the second floor of the building from where a grill had collapsed on Friday injuring a woman who had come to visit an ailing patient.
