VASCO: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar inaugurated the twelve-seater Sulabh Shouchalaya Complex and the 800 cubic metres Ground Level Reservoir (GLR) and 650 cubic metre Overhead Reservoir (OHR) along with the conveying and distribution mains and pumping installation at Zorint, Zuarinagar.

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai, President Cortalim BJP Block Joel Fernandes, CMO Zuari Agro Chemicals Ranjit Singh Chugh and PWD engineers were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister appreciated the hard work and the concern of Saldanha towards making these much-needed projects a reality for the residents of Zuarinagar. 

He also urged the people of Zuarinagar not to fall prey to false propaganda by the Opposition that the houses in Zuarinagar would be demolished. 

“For any demolition drive, PWD’s assistance is needed and I assure you that PWD will not touch any of the houses in Zuarinagar for demolition, unless and until rehabilitation happens,” he emphasised, adding that his government under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar was planning to provide a unit to each household of Zuarinagar and Saldanha, who is the Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board could pursue the same.

Speaking on the occasion, Alina Saldanha said that the 12-seater Sulabh Shouchalaya Complex is constructed at a cost of Rs 24 Lakhs and the 800 cubic metre GLR, 650 cubic metre OHR, the conveying and distribution mains and pumping installation at a cost of Rs. 2 crores. 

With this infrastructure, the residents of various colonies near MES College and Zorint in Zuarinagar would get regular water supply and thereby free themselves of the problems faced due to water shortage, she said, appealing to the public to keep the toilet complex clean and hygiene, which would benefit the residents themselves. 

“Let us fulfil the dream of our Prime Minister Narendraji Modi and make India Clean and at the same time show respect to our women for whom the toilet facility is a necessity,” she added.

The president, Cortalim BJP Block said the dreams of late Matanhy Saldanha were being fulfilled by the MLA step by step and also thanked the minister for his support to Late Matanhy Saldanha then and now to his wife and hoped to get his support in future too.

The Sancoale Sarpanch, thanked the MLA for the two much-needed projects.
