MARGAO: Taking a strong stand, Nationalist Congress Party’s lone Goa MLA, Churchill Alemao, said he will quit the party if it aligns with Goa Forward Party.

“I shall resign from Nationalist Congress Party if it aligns with the Goa Forward Party or the Shiv Sena in Goa,” thundered Alemao, who also asserted that he will continue to support Pramod Sawant as Chief Minister of Goa.

“I have to support the one who helps me in development of my constituency and neither Sharad Pawar nor the NCP gives me funds for the development of my constituency. I have to depend upon the chief minister for funds,” he said.

Alemao said he had no problems if NCP aligns with the Congress in Goa, but asserted that an alliance with any other party is unacceptable.

After the alliance between Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, GFP chief Vijai Sardesai had spoken of a possible realignment in Goa with GFP tying up with SS to bring down the government.
