CUNCOLIM: Suraksha Gaonkar, aged 22 years, a widow from Gullem in Canacona, was found dead at a lonely place close to Cuncolim Industrial Estate. 

On Tuesday morning, a local woman who was passing through the area noticed the victim and informed the police.

According to police, the woman was missing from Gullem since Sunday. She was working in a private restaurant at Sadolshem. Her maternal house is in Cavrem and she was married to a person from Gullem. Police has found a mobile and a wallet at the spot where the woman was found dead. 

Police suspect that a person known to the victim may have committed the crime. DySP Dinraj Govekar inspected the spot to learn the facts firsthand and has launched an investigation.

Police suspect she was raped and then strangulated to death with her dupatta.
