ZP members to get more funds

MARGAO: The Zilla Parishad (ZP) members at a meeting on Friday received good news on developmental front, with every member getting around Rs 55 to 60 lakh to initiate and complete various projects in their constituencies. 

The Chairman of the ZP Navnath Naik said the tendering of various works will be done by Tuesday and the initial processes is being completed.

The Chairman also said the new office for the ZP South in the old Collectorate Margao was nearing completion. However, the ZP South has been forced to hold a meeting at the new Collectorate Conference hall by paying rent of Rs. 1500. 

The Guirdolim ZP Moreno Rebello highlighted the plight of the Curtorim areas, saying that Curtorim villages lack even basic need like water, electricity and transport. 

"Our markets are in a mess, we have electricity problem and water supply too is poor,” he said. 

When asked who is to be blamed he replied that the head of the Curtorim constituency was busy raising national and state issues instead of paying attention to his constituency.

Shiroda ZP Member Jaideep Shirodker raised the issue of illegal stone quarry operating in his areas and has demanded strict action against the quarry operation. 

The ZP members also prayed for a speedy recovery of the ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
