GCCI holds workshop for entrepreneurs

PANJIM: An Aspiring Entrepreneurs’ workshop was conducted on Friday at the Goa Chamber of Commerce (GCCI) to create awareness about the recently launched Start-up India project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This workshop was held under the auspices of World Trade Centre (Goa), GCCI -Women’s Wing, GEMS & I-Create (I). The workshop saw an attendance of more than 125 participants. 
Member of the Board of MSME, Govt of India Manguirish Pai Raiker was the Chief Guest of the function. In his inaugural address he said that our youth do not lack innovative ideas, but need to formulate and crystalize these ideas. To make their dreams come true the Government has announced the ‘Start-up India’ which has several sops like Income Tax holiday, lower compliance requirements, etc. Mudra Bank has formulated special schemes launched for promoting ‘Start-up India’. He urged the youth and women who aspire to be entrepreneurs to avail of these benefits. Dr. Jennifer Lewis e Kamat welcomed the audience. Mr. Rajkumar Kamat, President of GEMS, addressed the audience and complimented the organisers. Ms. Ambika Dhakenkar gave her vote of thanks.
Various resource people conducted this workshop including Manish Gosalia, Regional Coordinator for I-Create (I)- Goa who spoke about the importance of  development of entrepreneurs through focused and concise entrepreneurial training as well as discussed about the important aspects about the Start-up India initiative by the Government of India, Ryan Carvalho who promoted EDC’s IT competition, Murthy from SIDBI, Shalini Menezes a reputed corporate  lawyer and D S Prashant of CIBA spoke about the availability of incubation centres in Goa. 
The participants were both briefed about the ‘Start-up India’ initiative, importance of developing an entrepreneurial mind-set and also interactive session with the faculties.
