Mandopa Sports Club Beat Parish Youth Nuvem in Penalty Shootout to Reach Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy Semifinals

Mandopa Sports Club edged past Parish Youth Nuvem 6–5 in a tense penalty shootout to secure a place in the semifinals of the 2nd Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy football tournament at the DYSA Ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday. The tournament is being organised by Batora United Curtorim in association with Margao Sports Club.

The match remained goalless at the end of regulation time despite both teams creating scoring opportunities. Parish Youth Nuvem came close to taking the lead in the sixth minute when Albino Pereira set up an unmarked Melvin Fernandes, but the latter’s effort sailed over the crossbar. Mandopa responded with a swift counter-attack as Ronaldo Pereira played a through pass to Sweden Costa, whose shot struck the crossbar and went out of play.

With neither side able to break the deadlock, the match was decided through a tiebreaker. Mandopa Sports Club converted six penalties through Aden Pereira, Meliston Dias, Noah Luis, Nash Pereira, Ronaldo Pereira and Sherlock Mascarenhas. For Parish Youth Nuvem, Leroy Colaco, Albino Pereira, Shenoy Colaco, Luis Barreto and Melvin Fernandes successfully found the net.

Fr. Franky Fernandes Capusin of St. Lawrence Church, Sinquerim, attended the match as the chief guest and presented the Man of the Match award to Albino Pereira of Parish Youth Nuvem for his impressive performance.
