CAC Sports and Social Club, Cansaulim, secured a place in the semifinals of the St Sebastian Union football tournament after defeating hosts St Sebastian Union Club, Benaulim, 5-4 in a penalty shootout on Wednesday.

The quarterfinal was played at the St John the Baptist Football Ground in Dando, Benaulim, and remained tightly contested throughout. CAC Cansaulim took the lead through Deepak Kadam, who finished with a neat placement.
St Sebastian Union Club fought back and levelled the score before halftime through Irfan Pathan, with both teams going into the break at 1-1.
The second half saw both sides create efforts in search of the winning goal, but neither team managed to find the net before the final whistle. The result was consequently decided through a penalty shootout. thegoan
Cansaulim Hold Their Nerve
CAC Cansaulim converted their penalties through Dester Fernandes, Melwyn Gama, Aloysius Mesquita and Rishley Soares.
For St Sebastian Union Club, Vishal Fernandes, Faizel Bepari and Luis Fernandes successfully found the net. However, Cansaulim held their nerve to win the tiebreaker 5-4 and advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
