Now we all know that the taxi system in Goa is far from the best and the tourist taxi operators are rather infamous for their unethical business practices. Exorbitant fare charges, inhospitable conduct and overall unprofessional attitude has raised a red flag against using these services when in Goa, and tourists especially are the ones affected the most. And if the taxi strike held by All Goa Tourist Taxi Association, North and South Goa Tourist Taxi Associations in June this year is anything to go by, things don’t look like they’re going to change for better anytime soon. This makes us wonder if it is high time for private players, who have changed the tourist taxi industry outside Goa in metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, to now foray into Goa. For all practical purposes, the presence of taxi operators like Ola and Uber will not only make commuting easy but also play a major role in the further development of Goa as a tourism destination
