Goans follow sports passionately and ‘Glory’ will touch the hearts of Goans as the love for
football is so strong in the state.
‘Glory’ is the story of the Goan team that has been selected for
the national championship under the coach, Srinivas (Rajesh Pednekar). The
players have their own issues, on and off the field. Dominic (Manoj Joshi) has
a turbulent relationship with his team mates, while Nicolas (Salil Naik) tries
to maintain harmony among team members; this worsens Dominic’s equation with
the team as the tournament progresses.

Tinky George is making his debut as a feature film director with
this film. ( produced and co –directed by A Durga Prasad under the banner of
Prasad creations) He has previously worked on short films like ‘Maicho Mog’,
‘Janani’, ‘Psychology’, ‘Why’ and ‘2118’ for which he won the best film at the
Science Film Festival of India. Speaking about his experience working on
‘Glory’, he says, “It was a learning experience for me. Now I am so excited to
see the response from Goa. It is a must-see film for the people of Goa as this
is the first Goan film on football and the first sports film too. Since Goans
love football, we thought it would be a good subject to work on for a film. We
got the support from most of the Goan footballers of the ‘80s.”
A Durga Prasad, who has produced films like ‘Calapor’, ‘Enemy’
and ‘Martin’. He is also making his debut as a director through ‘Glory’. The
film was shot in Goa and Kolkata in 30 days. “All the cast and crew of the film
worked for 30 days as a family. It took a lot of hard work as most of the shoots
were done on location. It was a 100 per cent team effort as over 200 artistes
were part of the film. It’s a brilliant product of Prasad Creations,” he says
about the shooting of the film.
The fountain of local goan talent gushes forth in this film. The
cast of the film includes Rajesh Pednekar, Salil Naik, Brijesh Kakodkar, Manoj
Joshi, Sachin Surlikar, Fermino Goes, Luis Bachchan, Comedian Nato, Chitra
Alfonso, Veloshka, and Rohit Khandekar, playing key roles in the movie. Abhijit
Salgaokar is the Executive Producer while Goan filmmaker Jeetendra Shikerkar is
the Creative Director.
The lyrics are by Dr Rajay Pawar and music is composed by Ronnie
Monserate.
The singers are O’luv, Acasio and Aurvile. Saish Panondikar and
Sunil Kumar are screenplay writers for the film and the sound design has been
done by Bollywood sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee, who is known for films
like ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmavat’ and ‘Uri’. Neeraj Voralia is the editor and
he too has worked on National Award winning film ‘Shwas’. Cinematography is by
Hari Nair, who has worked on National Award winning Konkani film ‘K Sera Sera’.
The visual effects have been done by Mumbai based Abhishek Saxena of Zero
Gravity. ‘Glory’ is the first Konkani film that has been mixed in Dolby Atmos.
To
conclude, Tinky says, “Feature films have a bigger audience compared to short
films. My dream is to make this film commercially and critically successful.”
