Horror film Obsession is continuing its impressive box office run in India, driven largely by strong social media buzz and glowing audience reactions. The film, directed by newcomer Curry Barker, has become a global talking point and is now emerging as a surprise success among Indian moviegoers.
Latest box office figures reveal that the film collected ₹2.63 crore on Tuesday, its fifth day in theatres. This marks a healthy jump from Monday’s ₹2 crore earnings, indicating that audience interest in the film remains strong. Obsession has now earned ₹14.78 crore gross in India, while its net collections have climbed to ₹12.38 crore.
Several Bollywood celebrities have also expressed admiration for the film. Kartik Aaryan described it as one of the finest horror films released in recent years, while Ananya Panday admitted the movie continued to haunt her thoughts after viewing.
The film centres on Bear, a lonely music store employee who has long harboured feelings for his coworker Nikki. Desperate to make her fall in love with him, he buys a strange object known as the One Wish Willow from a mysterious crystal shop.
Although the wish works, it unleashes horrifying consequences. Nikki’s love becomes extreme, possessive and emotionally disturbing, eventually turning into a terrifying obsession. The film’s unsettling atmosphere and psychological tension have played a major role in making it one of the most talked-about horror releases of the year.
