The Panjim City
Carnival is accepting entries for
the Carnival Float Parade 2022, which will take place on February 26th, 2022 in
the capital city.
Entries are invited
for the six main categories – Traditional, Club/Institution, Family, Sponsored,
Fun Junk, and Clown/ Joker. There is also a minimum participant criterion and
an entry fee that differs based on the category. The form to be filled out for
participation can be collected from the office of the Corporation of the City
of Panjim (CCP).
Each float is
required to be compulsorily accompanied by music that could include traditional
musical instruments, recorded music, brass band, and live music among others.
Participants in all floats across all categories must be dressed in Carnival
costumes. Participants wearing plain t-shirts or shirts with commercial logos
will not be allowed to participate in the floats.
The height of the
float should not be more than 14 feet and no part of the float vehicle should
be visible. It should be fully decorated. Equipment like generators can be
towed in secondary vehicles which should be fully camouflaged with Carnival
decor. Every float using a generator should ensure that the generator is silent
and non-polluting.
Use of animals,
offensive, vulgar, indecent, or obscene display whether in dress, performance
or gesture is prohibited. Depicting any religious scenes or deities with the
intention to hurt religious sentiments is also prohibited along with a
depiction of political themes, figures, personalities, or caricatures. No
liquor, drugs, or lethal weapons will be permitted to be carried on the floats.
Participating floats
with vehicles should report at the starting point by 11 am on 26th February
2022 for the purpose of screening. Only floats with screening passes will be
eligible to be judged in the competition. The last day of submission of the
Carnival entry form is 23 Feb.
The
city of Panjim is gearing up to celebrate Carnival between 26 Feb and 1st March
2022 with celebrations planned across the city.
