With the
perspectives on heritage assuming
a better shape with the cultural boom of the decade, it is becoming
increasingly important to decode the various avenues of the same, with a clear
idea on what your responsibilities with the term are.
Ankahi is an initiative that encourage conversations on the
personal associations of heritage and break the notion that heritage is
confined to only specialised areas of study. With the theoretical knowledge
from their post graduation in the Centre for Heritage Management, Ankahi, an
event on heritage awareness, is organised by Khayaal, a social enterprise
working in the field of heritage and the various ways of its management. With
the four young co-founders coming from various educational backgrounds and geographical
areas, they try to bring about that fresh perspective on heritage, defying the
notion of it being confined to popular forms, professional age brackets and
specific study areas.
Reaching
out to educational institutions and open spaces all over India to cater to the
larger mass, Khayaal is organising a session of Ankahi, one at the Vinsan
Academy of Film and Media on January 5, 2019 at 10 am, and at the Design
centre, Goa on the same date, 4-7 pm. The one at Design Centre, Goa is an open
event and would welcome participants from all walks of life. With the larger
idea of the recognition of these diverse aspects of life, giving them their due
value and upholding their importance, Khayaal, in its efforts is thus trying to
create a dialogue for the same.
