Why can’t migrants be treated with the same dignity of humanity.

A heart-warming note by one of Herald’s very young readers

India was one of the 1st countries to
rescue the stranded Indians abroad. It was indeed a humanitarian step taken by
the Government of India. Why isn’t this kind of approach being extended to our
migrant workers stranded in urban areas miles away from their homes? These obscene
inequalities rob them of their right to equality under Article 14 of the Indian
Constitution.Latest research corroborates that millions of migrant labourers
are homeless, penniless and hungry. For whose care was the “PM Cares Fund”
setup, if not for the poorest of poor is still is an underlying conspiracy. We
can only approximate, since the actual amount of the “PM Cares Fund” isn’t in
the public domain. There can’t be any reasonable classification to not sanction
funds for these inhumane living conditions. The poor suffered the most then; the
poor are suffering the most today.Andyet,we are expected to stand up and clap!
